A man 23 year old Westley Strellis took a bat from the sporting goods section and smashed 29 flat screen TV's resulting in 29 counts of criminal damage to property in the second degree. To see the smashing in action, watch the video below. Note what appears to be some Walmart types coming into view and then backing off when they see the guy with the bat.

On the other hand (speculation commencing) what do you do when you are out of work, want to be assured shelter food and a bed and don't really want to hurt anyone? Smashed TV's at walmart. The dollar amount of the damaged goods is probably less than the electricity bill walmart pays during any given week. Not only that, walmart didn't pay what most articles are claiming was the damage. I have seen $22,000 to $23,000. That would be retail. When walmart files their insurance claim, they are going to get that much. They will only get their wholesale cost which is most likely at least 30% less if not more, knowing how many they buy at one time. The bigger the business, the less they have to pay.
